Facial Cleansing

I am in DIRE need of a new facial cleanser, for the past four years I have used Mario Badescu's Cleansing Gel and just recently switched to Liz Earle's Cleanser.  While there is nothing particularly wrong with either of these cleansers, I just don't LOVE them.  After doing some research online and chatting with my friends, I have narrowed my search down to Shamanuti's Charcoal Cleanser or Philosophy's Purity Made Simple Cleanser.

I am really leaning towards the Charcoal Cleanser,  since it's all natural and works for all skin types.  It's also effective with reducing acne - which is something I kind of need help with (annoying, right - thought I didn't have to deal with this anymore after high school) The con with this one though, is that it is pretty expensive for it's size buttttt I also only wash my face once a day so I really don't use too much cleanser.

Philosophy's Purity Made Simple Cleanser is a great value for the price and it has some seriously great reviews but it's not all natural and I'm really trying to go that route with my skincare products. Ugh, Decisions, Decisions - I just don't know what to do!

What about you, do you have a favorite cleanser?

  2. I've been on the hunt for a great cleanser too, and I just settled on "Ain't Misbehavin" from DermaDoctor. I've been battling acne recently too (SO, SO annoying), and it's really made a huge difference. I wash once a day and then put on a good moisturizer and my skin has gotten so much better. Still have a ways to go, but MUCH better than before. xo

  3. Clinique is the best foaming facial cleanser ever!!! And reasonable at $10!! You will love it!

  4. I use a charcoal cleanser and I LOVE it! I would definitely recommend trying it out! The one I use is by LUSH and it's cheaper than the one your looking at but it's a bit strange as it's more of a solid than a cream or liquid.

  5. Great minds think alike - i think go with the more expensive charcoal cleanser because like you said you only wash your face once a day and it's good for all skin types!!

I have a sensitive skin, so I have to be careful with the products I pick. I always use Avene products, they are the best For my skin. Great post!

  11. My sister uses the Shamanuti and loves it. I've never tried the Philosophy but have heard great things about that too! Looking for new skincare is always so hard.

Decleor is another amazing all natural brand. I have been using it for 6 months and it has done wonders for my skin. Again, unfortunately pricey BUT it is consistently on Gilt and I am only 2/3 of the way through my cleanser after 6 months of using it.

  14. I have a friend who swears by Purity! Raves about the stuff --- have you tried anything by Lush? They're all natural if that's what you favor.

  15. I think if you're trying to do the whole all-natural thing then you should just spring for the pricey one. I find that organic things are usually more expensive anyway, so it kind of comes with the lifestyle :) And I've been thinking of doing the all natural route too- putting chemical ingredients on your face just sounds like a bad idea, haha

  20. my favorite cleaner is any of the aveeno line, it doesn't dry out my skin and takes away any redness

  21. I use straight up Neutrogena fresh foaming cleanser...it's the only thing that can take off my eye makeup. However I had a sample of the Fresh soy cleanser and it was amazing but the price just hurt! I've never tried either one of those two....may need to hit up trusty ole sephora for some samples ;)

  22. Okay this is going to sound crazy but I just splash my face with warm water, use Apple Cider Vinegar as an astringent and then use a teeny amount of coconut oil on my face and my skin has never been clearer and refreshed. I've been doing it for a few months now and I am completely obsessed with coconut oil!

  23. I would definitely go with the all natural option -despite the cost. Here is the thing, we are exposed to pollutants all day just living life, I just don't see the benefit of introducing additional chemicals on to the skin.

I actually use products from The Organic Pharmacy, they are VERY expensive, but they last me a LONG time and honestly have had such a profound impact on my skin….

  26. I am looking for a cleanser for acne as well and this charcoal one intrigues me! I am a huge fan of Kiehl's, it's gentle on the skin. For acne, I also use Murad, it's great for fighting acne but also a little pricey.
