BB Cream vs CC Cream

BB Cream vs CC Cream…the question that has been on everyone’s mind - you know Kate Middleton was pondering this before she took these pictures

As a makeup lover and product junkie, I have been seeing BB Cream and CC Cream everywhere…well Sephora and Blue Mercury, but that’s basically everywhere in the beauty world, right?   Obviously I had to get in on the trend and got Supergoop's CC Cream – which I love, but I wonder – am I missing out by not using BB Cream? Clearly, I needed to do some research to solve this problem

Per my online research, which resulted in a full shopping cart at Sephora, I found that BB Creams originated in East Asia - for those who are geographically challenged like me, East Asia consists of China, Japan, North and South Korea, Mongolia, Taiwan, and Macau (I just had to throw a geography lesson in there to have with your morning blog reading).  BB Creams tend to be slightly lighter than foundation and is quite a multi – tasker, as it is a moisturizer, primer, foundation and sunscreen.

CC Creams do everything that BB Creams do but they are kind of overachievers and focus more on Color Correcting (the CC stands for Color Control) .  I personally use CC Cream on a daily basis, since my skin tends to be a little blotchy and this diminishes any redness.

Apparently there’s also DD Cream out there now…looks like a comparison on that will take place when EE Cream is invented.   Until then, some of my favorite BB and CC Creams are:

Smashbox - Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35

Yves Saint Laurent - Top Secrets All-In-One BB Cream Skintone Corrector

Dr. Jart+ - Black Label Detox BB Beauty Balm

Smashbox - Camera Ready CC Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Dark Spot Correcting

Peter Thomas Roth - CC Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Complexion Corrector

SPF 35 DAILY CORRECT CC CREAM LIGHT TO MEDIUM - (1.6 fl. oz.) [NEW]
